Create a Farm in Your Backyard - With Tim SextonEven if you have a very small space, you can grow an amazing amount of food for yourself, your family, and others. This course will teach you how to think about and plan the space you have to optimize your particular area’s productivity, regardless of the size. Organic methods for growing, caring for, and saving seeds from common garden vegetables will be explained, along with methods for sustainability including increasing soil fertility without resorting to chemicals. You’ll learn the basics in caring for small-scale livestock like chickens and goats, how to build simple structures to catch rainwater and prolong your harvest well into winter. We will briefly touch on each topic in the syllabus, but the focus of the teaching will be geared toward the interests and questions of the students.
